THE COMPANY

Our client is a privately held firm with more than 30 offices around the world. The company designs and integrates building systems. The company has evolved from a traditional electrical engineering contractor into a technology delivery firm providing of physical security, infrastructure, transit and smart grid systems.

They are currently seeking a new Head of Marketing and Communications, reporting directly to the CEO, to lead, manage and execute the firm’s Marketing and Communications (MARCOM) strategy and execution. As the head of the marketing function, this person will direct internal and external resources, be responsible for corporate branding, digital strategy and implementation, public relations and integrated internal communications.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The Head of MARCOM will be responsible for internal and external messaging and managing outside PR and Advertising partners. The ideal candidate will have experience developing communication strategy in the professional services industry with a focus on infrastructure, technology and design. The incoming Head of MARCOM will be smart, relentless, passionate and a master of communication. This person must be adept at developing and deploying effective and innovative employee engagement programs.

SCOPE

  • Manage and direct corporate Brand strategy - perform current Brand assessment, creative development/ augmentation, and Brand rollout and implementation in coordination with established corporate strategic milestones.
  • Conduct necessary digital demand mapping, qualitative research, competitive assessment, gap analysis, concept development, platform and strategy development, and logo/tagline design, development and/or augmentation in accordance with corporate strategy and objectives.
  • Manage and monitor Brand implementation and rollout to ensure comprehensive and consistent messaging over time across the firm’s business units.
  • Develop and implement external communication plans that successfully integrate Brand and communication strategies in three channels: Digital, Events and Public Relations.
  • Digital: Manage design and implementation of new corporate website, including concept/creative development, workflow, copywriting, coding and implementation, and integration with multiple social media channels on a routine basis ensuring consistent branding, messaging and content distribution across all selected digital platforms. Develop processes and protocols, to include information gathering, assessment and life-cycle information management to assure continuous digital content refreshment directly aligned with the firm’s quarterly and annual objectives and priorities.
  • Events: Manage the production and participation at corporate events ensuring MARCOM objectives are achieved in a creative, timely and cost-efficient manner. Participate in event selection and publish annual tradeshow/event schedules and ensure planning, budgeting and logistics schedules are established; manage pre-event digital and hard copy communications and outreach; direct event attendance and onsite workflow/protocols for the firms’ employees and executives; and develop After Action Reporting (AAR), lessons learned, ROI quantification, and recommendations for future event schedules.
  • Public Relations: Manage development and distribution of storylines and press releases, fact sheets, white papers, and industry highlights to the media and coordinate media interviews/distribution. Develop and maintain targeted media lists, contacts and relationships to ensure effective distribution of Brand and messaging content. Develop campaign communications schedule/calendar, execute communications plan in accordance with campaign schedule and track and report on campaign activities and effectiveness.
  • Develop and implement internal communication plans that successfully deliver key Brand and messaging themes and content to employees.
  • Manage the MARCOM Service Center finances.

SPECIFIC SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • 15 + years in marketing communications role in creative professional services environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or related field.
  • 5+ years managing a high performing, cross functional team.
  • Superb oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience managing departmental budget.
  • Strong analytical and research skills.
