Our client is a privately held firm with more than 30 offices around the world. The company designs and integrates building systems. The company is evolving its strategy and business model from commoditized services to custom, fully-integrated solutions. Integrating in-house fabrication and assembly of customized solutions will increase their efficiency and add value to their services. While they had significant talent on the engineering side of these solutions, the downstream custom metal fabrication was still in need of senior leadership. The firm needed a new Head of Manufacturing to oversee all mechanical work that integrates with its custom engineering.

Chris Swan, Global Practice Leader in Construction, Design, Architecture, Real Estate, and Engineering for TRANSEARCH International was selected to lead this search because of the firm’s 30 years of global retained executive search experience and his continuous working relationship with this client. The new Head of Manufacturing will be working alongside the COO and engineers to manage all aspects of manufacturing: integrated design and engineering, all manufacturing processes and work cells, project forecasting, materials management, manufacturing talent management and training, logistics, warehousing, and some aspects of implementation. The new Head of Manufacturing brings more than 30 years’ experience, making him an excellent choice to lead this growing function. In addition, his leadership philosophy is rooted in servant leadership; listening to others in the organization and respecting diverse points of view, which will help him achieve buy-in from the existing talent and ultimately lead to a successful manufacturing operation.

Within a few weeks of the search, TRANSEARCH formally submitted five excellent candidates with a range of backgrounds. Identifying a personality which would exhibit the greatest culture fit was paramount in pinpointing the best individual for this role. Senior leadership emphasized communication, resilience, and the ability to deliver change. From the slate of candidates, two front-runners emerged. After intense deliberation among the leadership team and consultation with Chris Swan, the TRANSEARCH helped coordinate the offer delivery to the selected candidate. The candidate for Head of Manufacturing accepted and began within two weeks.
