The business is the largest employer of Protection & Control ("P&C") engineers and technicians in the U.S. and provides highly specialized services focused on transmission & distribution assets across the power grid and power equipment at commercial & industrial sites, including data centers.  

Backed by a private equity firm, they currently have 850 employees and $200M in revenue, with plans to be 2,000 employees and $500M in revenue in the next four years. 

About this role

The Head of Marketing and Communications leads and supports marketing and communications strategies for the company. This role is responsible for the strategic vision and execution of the company's position in the marketplace and culture. This position reports to the Chief Executive Officer working closely with the executive team. They need a charismatic, engaging, and an excellent presenter who will know how to take technical data and communicate it. This role will manage, direct, and develop a team for all marketing and communication matters, including all internal and external communications, employee communications, public relations, crisis communications, and social media.

Strategic Responsibility
  • Oversee and manage all external agencies that support marketing and communications efforts  
  • Design a comprehensive communications strategy aligned with their corporate goals and objectives 
  • Build effective communications strategies for mergers and acquisitions, creating engaging and collaborative messaging 
  • Ensure consistent application of the brand in all campaigns and marketing activities 
  • Develop and present monthly Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to optimize and align the communication activities with the marketing scorecard 
  • Serve as a corporate spokesperson for the company with internal and external constituents. This may include presentations to the executive, leadership, and employee populations 
  • Articulate and help build the thought leadership platform, defining the issues and topics that create opportunities for engagement and story creation 
  • Partner across the organization to build thought leadership, develop newsworthy content, and leverage their position to project their narrative to the influencers in the market for lead generation in sales, talent acquisition, and mergers & acquisitions
  • Develop and manage an editorial calendar and cadence of thought leadership and news that advances corporate narrative with their employees 
  • Draft written materials, including pitches, executive bylines, vertical-focused content, video scripts for executives, and presentations 
  • Effectively managing complex, fast-moving, and unexpected communications challenges and dealing with ambiguity 
  • Help repurpose and integrate content for multiple channels and ensure that messaging and stories are coherent and consistent across their branding platform 
  • Work closely with the sales department to develop customer-focused promotions, communication strategies, product presentations, and training initiatives 
  • Work with marketing firms, website consultants, and various print and partner vendors to develop on-brand collateral, campaigns, consumer experiences, and initiatives to promote sales and brand recognition 
  • Oversee and attend industry conferences and expositions throughout the U.S., ensuring branding and messaging are consistent with objectives in their marketplace 
Preferred Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in either communications, public relations, marketing, or related fields  
  • A strategic thinker who can translate business objectives into integrated communication strategies and tactics that drive business performance and internal culture  
  • 10+ years of professional experience in a related field  
  • Extensive knowledge of effective organizational communication strategies, techniques, and media, including video, print, written, and electronic communication and digital marketing strategies  
  • Possesses a creative and strategic thought process with the drive to work independently and a track record of collaboration and innovation 
  • Proven capability to handle multiple competing priorities and consistently meet deadlines on time 
  • Experience working with various social media platforms and measurement platforms 
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of current trends in digital media/social media 
  • Ability to convey complex, technical content in clear, concise, and compelling language 
  • Ability to manage and mentor a team while being an active group member
